Where Are We Headed? - Version 2

This is one of the articles I came across recently. And what follows after that is myperception and never intended to hurt anybody’s religious or personal feelings. I AM NOT A SENTIMENTAL RELIGIOUS IDIOT and after reading this if you feel so, nothing can be done. One mans food is another mans poison.

They article says

Islamic State of North America
This article from the report talks about a group that claims it will create The Islamic State of North America by 2050.
The paramount goal of the movement is the establishment of Islam as a complete way of life in America
The group says it has a six-point plan of action which is implemented at each location where a branch of the movement is established.

  • Establishing a mosque “as a place to worship Allah in congregation and as a center of spiritual and moral training.”
  • “Calling the general society” to embrace Islam.
  • Establishing a full-time school “that raises children with a strong Islamic identity so they can, as future Islamic leaders, effectively meet and deal with the challenges of growing up in the West.”
  • Establishing businesses to “make the movement financially stable and independent.”
  • Establishing “geographical integrity by encouraging Muslims of the community to live in close proximity” to the mosque.
  • Establishing “social welfare institutions to respond to the need for spiritual and material assistance within the community as well as the general society.”

After reading this, I couldn’t help myself but was laughing about this and furious about another thing. As you sow so shall you reap”. Since the estimation is for 2050 at this point I am least bothered about it. But I am sure this could happen. Before I can get on to that, why and what I was furious on the other side.

This is a real incident that I came across myself where I stood helpless… I hope you know about the tsunami that hit the south-east coast of India few years back. I self volunteered for a NGO group for rehabilitation of the affected people. Where I went was a slum, which is very much in the Chennai city limit. I was standing on the shore and looking at the waves which I always love to do. At some distant I saw a group of people following a Church Father and the Father had some of his people with him. Curious about were they are going, I just followed them. The head count of the group was around 30 and it includes people of all age group. They went inside a hut, which was newly built. From outside all I could hear was some Bible recitation and then Durai came out as Durai Michael with a Tamil version of bible in hand. One of person who came along with Father was standing outside and he gave a 100 rupee to Durai Michael. I came to know about this person Durai Michael because when this person came out I dint know clearly what happened inside. Curious after seeing him collecting the 100 rupee, I got the hint and got confirmed after a colloquial talk with him about what happened.

Now stop for a moment. If you think I going to complain about religion conversion you are mistaken. I was talking to this Durai Michael and this is the crux of that conversion. Though it took some time to get the answer from him, after his answer it was rather me who was stunned. In a nutshell I asked him “What they (Father) have asked you to do and Why you got yourself converted to a Christian”. The reply was “What’s wrong in this? I was Durai. Then I don’t have a proper job. Now the father has promised me some construction worker job. They will give me and my family a new shelter built here. Apart from this they have asked me to come to church every Sunday morning and evening for prayer session. They will pay every head in my family 100 rupees if I bring them also. I don’t see any problem in this. Because, being a Durai (being HINDU – actually this is what he stressed by saying DURAI alone) and jobless I think being Durai Michael is not going to harm me. Actually I will be better being Durai Michael.” So that’s the conversation in a nutshell.

I could see mostly Christian Missionaries. And for this Tsunami relief they had a meet in New Delhi and conversion tops their agenda. Have you heard of Catholics Bishops Conference of India? I suggest you to visit their website and search for Tsunami related news. They were so organized in serving people and getting their job also done. I don’t mean there is no such Hindu or Muslim organization which is not doing any quality social service. I know very much the work and contribution of Sringeri Sharada Pedam, Hindu Mission Hospital, Tirupathi Tirumala Devasthanam, Ramakrishna Mission and alike. I do strongly believe in Vivekananda’s wording that “Hinduism is not a religion. It’s the way of Life” and I am the guy who has read “Arthamulla Hindu Matham by Kannadasan” for N times. No doubt, Hinduism has so much good things in it. Everything said in all the religion comes down to “How to live the life in a meaningful way” So my argument is definitely not about which religion is greatest. My question is “when there are so much good things in Hinduism then what the reason, a Durai could so easily leave this Hinduism. Again I emphasize “Why he left Hinduism and it’s NOT why he joined Christianity” So where Hinduism fails in bridging the gap? Answer is simple.

It’s that day I realized it’s not just money rather it’s more about reaching out people. Well, YES those Christian missionaries are utilizing the poverty. But how does it really matter to a person who is starving to death, to get converted to Christianity or Judaism or Islam when the religion to which he belong could not reach out to give the very basic need of every human being “FOOD & SHELTER”. I just imagined myself in one such situation where I am UNEDUCATED, stranded on the streets, jobless with no way for a livelihood and some father of church comes to me and tell “I will get you a job which involves physical activity since you are uneducated and I will give you some money for time being, a permanent shelter and all you have to do is become “Arun Anthony”, come to church every Sunday for prayer”. Damn it, I will sure accept that though how much I know about Hinduism or any other religion I belong to. Now please if you are the one who says “NO I WONT ACCEPT.” I kindly request you to visit some slum you have near by, stay there for a day to really know what the struggle those people is/are undergoing everyday. Because it’s always very easy to sit in a chair like me to type about it and for you to reply back a “NO I WONT ACCEPT” from your seat.

By saying “reachable” this is what I mention. If Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Delhi has developed so much, that doesn’t mean India has developed. In many rural areas the situation are much more pathetic then what you could imagine and the 7 sisters is one such remote place. The point I wanted to convey here is, go, and see there who is serving people there. By serving i mean it in “LARGE SCALE”. I can name right away few Christian missionaries who are serving the people there. When do you think this modern day Christian missionary came to India? For the post sake I am considering it from the 15th century along with the Portuguese. Now I hope you know where the Portuguese entered in India and where the 7 sisters are. The map you see below is the 2001 census of Christianity distribution.

Christianity Population 2001 Census

2001 census of Christianity distribution in India

Almost 35% on average, the 7 sister population were Christians now. So it happened almost in the last 150 Years on a rough estimation. Now on to the other side, they don’t do well alone. These kinds of things also happened/happening but not sure how much the outside world knows. The Government of the state of Tripura uncovered evidence to support the assertion that the Baptist Church of Tripura has been supporting the terrorist group National Liberation Front of Tripura, a violent separatist group that has attacked and killed Hindus in the region and that has banned Hindu festivals by force. To know the full story don’t look for any Indian newspaper because I am sure you wont find it. Go straight away to BBC here. I can point lot more such things if anyone wants to know further.

For the “When did it happened” part, it happened when we damn Hindus were sleeping. If some one has to be blamed for conversion the first and foremost responsibility goes to the people of that community. Can anyone show me 1 Muslim home without Quran or 1 Christian home without Bible? But i can show N Hindu homes without Bhagvad Gita or alike. In fact this is the greatest flexibility we have in Hinduisim. It never forces any of us and it’s WE who took it for granted not to follow since its not forced. The Christian missionaries worked as a perfect organization with a single mission, reaching out people and spreading Christianity. They did it and still doing it. Spreading a religion I don’t want to get into a debate, for the fact it happens in all the religion. That’s the reason a man in Islam may marry up to 4 wives and have more children there by making his community strong. In any case it’s just “The Survival Of The Fittest” and there is no point for the weak to exist.

Is it possible to have one Christian or Hindu conversion in Saudi or any such Islamic country like in India? Can Pope go to China now? For the visit to Hong Kong in 1999 there was so much protest and Pope came to India if I am right. Is this the problem with India being so liberal? If so I wish my country not to be that liberal and FUCK those politicians who shout MINORITY for the vote bank sake. Is there any such provision given to any of the religion in Islamic country for the so called other minority group? If interested to know more stats on this Minority thing do read my very first post “RESERVATION: Who needs?”

I have so many good friends who are Muslim, Christian, and Hindu and I am not against religion conversion if one personally wants to. But from missionaries point, what for all these things if serving people is the only thing in mind and I will sure question at what cost even if a HINDU MISSIONARY DO HINDU CONVERSION IN SOME FOREIGN LAND? If anyone has the question “Is it not Hindu Missionary doing Hindu conversion?” Let me tell one sad thing that in India the situation is so worst now, that it has the biggest task of re-converting the Ex-Hindus back to Hinduism. If you need any stats on various mission of various religion started to spread their religion? visit this page . Though the link says Christian Missionaries, actually it includes all missions that went for spreading its religion. If some one could point me a Hindu Mission with such a great extent that it works on Hindu conversion, I will add that also.

Coming to North America, I will wind up with one stat.

Year 2200 Projection!

If you really need projection in US alone find your way. If couldn’t mail me. I shall give you N reports about the projected US Muslim population. Just see the Hinduism projection also. And these projection comes staright away from World Christian Encyclopedia. After reading those reports and co-relating, I felt its possible because DON’T YOU THINK IT’S THE SAME WAY GUYS IN VATICAN PLANNED SOME 50 YEARS BACK TO SPREAD CHRISTIANITY IN INDIA AND THEY DID IT ALSO. In India most of the best educational institution are Christian missionaries and few of them who are reading this will be also from some convent of such missionaries. They started it right from there. At that time our parents are more bothered about giving us good education and it doesnt matter to them if their child is saying Christian prayer, not allowed to have bindhi, anklets etc. So those Islamic group can also do it by hitting the right chord with more apt things in US! Still (al)most of the US lobbyist are Jewish. They have the control at the back. Just 2 days after this post i came across to know about the book The Israel Lobby and US Foreign Policy and to know further click here

Let me tell one scenario. If the US market crashes (it’s already on the way), sure it will have a global impact. But for those Islamic countries it will not be so on long term. Because OIL OIL OIL OIL OIL. With that one natural resource they will sure dominate. Already at this time i am typing Iran president has called the US $ a worthless paper. To read more click here . Still we are oil dependent. Has anyone seen the movie Syriana? Watch it know why and how US made Emirates to back up for its OIL thirst though few things are fiction in that. It’s all out there. Joining the dots sure will give the complete meaning. Even you may end up supporting Muslim’s agitation .

But the entire post is not to throw mud on each other face. My only concern was save India before some body starts to claim Islamic State of India or Christianic State of India and to think about Islamic State of North America which is projected for 2050 would be waste of time for me at this moment. Already we are held up with issues one in Kashmir, another in Srilanka, yet another in Israel etc. Let’s not keep adding. I personally feel every religion shows only the right path. But how we take it decides where we are headed! If communal clash, nucleur bombs, bio-chemical weapons are the way we choose. Dont worry. Nature has it own way of handling us and I am sure we will be loser! So go out and chill now.

Omen, Kuda Hafiz!

PS : This post took overall 15 minutes for me to complete because when i wrote my first post “Who Needs Reservation” this was already there in my mind. But then thought lets not make my blog so serious. But reading the version-1 triggered me to pen down now. If everyone can take it in the right sense and can come up with constructive, organic argument i can keep going. But i am not sure. So i winded up short!

hm.. read your post and understand your point of view. just want to clarify my point on the post was “why religion”? (be it any religion) why should that be in the forefront? Be it in the US, in Europe, in India or in any part of the world… is religion a required aspect for betterment of society! Will put my thoughts together n get back to your post.

@srividya….

Even telling “I don’t belong to any religion” has become one religion now. In a way the answer to your question is YES. Religion is also a required aspect!

I know that a reply to this post is long over-due but I’ve completely lost my train of thought :) What I was trying to clarify is this - I’m not pointing at 2050 , I know there are problems we are facing at this very moment.
I’m not pointing at the US, I know our very own country/city/locality has its own issues. I found the claims made by the group a bit alarming and that’s the reason I mentioned it in the previous post.
About religion being a necessity - I would not agree to that point. I think it takes like minded ppl - no matter which religion/region they belong to, to make a difference. That said - I will not belittle the efforts of various religious groups that provide better living conditions and other services to those in need, but only believe that religion is not the ‘end-all’
