Attitude Matters ( A LOT )
I never thought I would write another post so soon, as I maintain a post per year for whatsoever reason. Many a times I would like to get going with what I am doing rather than blowing my own trumpet…but for my TOWARDS INSANITY post I got few comments which forced me to post this as a matter of justification to myself for their comments…first of all, this blog is my space and its jus a place where I can vent out wht I feel no matter who reads and wht they feel…I never intend to bring in any reforms thru my blog and even by chance it happens I wont take the credit…I never bother how many read my blog…even if 1 person read it and get the positive aspect, I will feel much better…of course in an open cyber space, critics are jus a part of it…after all I expect them to be constructive…nothing much…
This is one of the comments I got from XXXXXXX for the post TOWARDS INSANITY
“When I first read mail, I felt disgusted and thought of replying you with ” what the fuck”, then by chance I opened your blog, the beginning was impressive, then you also got carried away, have entrusted upon yourself the duty of making a new ” India”, a country (can we call it a country!!!), which it never was and never will be…. be realistic… keep the fuck to yourself… little less conversation, little less more action brings satisfaction to me. Now you can chill.” – XXXXXXX
This is one of the comments I got from YYYYYYY for the post TOWARDS INSANITY
“Yes indeed it’s a very good post. But as your fiend Karthick says what are we achieving just by writing a blog or putting a mail to your friends?? Is all that we can do? Writing a blog for the mail received thinking that it will create awareness and it is going to be a healthy conversation… how many of them reading this is going to take this in their mind? I doubt will even a single person including you and me will do something in action for this and you say this is the best you can do just writing a blog???? What are you doing sitting in Finland leaving your mother country??? Why don’t you sit here and try to utilize the shared resource to the maximum.” - YYYYYYY
I know how realistic a person can be (should be) and I how attitude matters in life…
Mr. Ved Prakash Dixit comes from a remote village ‘Deegh’ which is situated in Bindki Tehsil of Fatehpur District. The village is some 270 kilometers from New Delhi and about 60 kilometers from nearest town of Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh (a state/province). Populations of 15000 residents of whom most are destitute. The nearest public transportation is available some 10 kilometers walk from the village. He finished his masters in JNU Delhi. After his completion, he thought of doing something back to his village. This is an extract of an interview with him.
Mr. Ved Prakash Dixit and his wife: Who started the school.
- What was the personal motivation for you to go through the struggle to establish the school?
I did not want others to suffer like me and wanted to do some good for the children here. I had to walk 10 kms everyday to reach my school in the days when there was not even a proper road to the village. Many times I had to miss classes because of the rains or too much heat. So by the time I finished my education in the university I started this school in the village.
School was started in the times when there were no education facilities in the village. The nearest school was 10 kms. And there was no conveyance available, in fact there was not even a proper road upto the village.
In the first year there were only 125 students out of which only 25 were girls, today there are about 350 students and about 170 girl students. Because of this one school three other school have opened in last few years. I would say these have come up mainly because of the cast system that exists in the society and also maybe because of certain amount of jealousy among the other people.
Whatever the reason be, it has been a blessing in disguise as more children have been able to attend school, as our school alone would not have been to handle all the children. In spite of four of these schools and one government run school there are still about 1000 children who do not attend any kind of school, which is something to worry about.
My planning for the future is to be able to bring 100% children to at least one of these schools. I hope that by giving good education to children and improving their capabilities not only in studies but helping them improve their personality, I can change their attitudes towards the life. I would like to achieve this by giving them education based on computers, games, health issues, hygiene and civic values.
· What would be the key message and learning for us from you?
In this life, which is so full of hopes, it is difficult to discover the one, which is just right for you. But today there is need for people like you and me who can help others to fulfill what they dream. Both mentally and physically I am capable of handling this school but it is the financial part which keeps me in difficulty and hinders my work and in fact many times I have come to point when I just want to close everything and look for another life for me.
- My only expectations from you are that I keep getting moral and financial support from you to help me remain on the right track and live with a feeling that what I am doing is good.
- I feel that if it is important for me to be in this village, it’s the same kind of importance, which you have to be where ever you are.
- And wherever you are, you can be the one who could support people like me to do even better for the life of these children in the village.
· How has school improved individual child in her/his future life?
Where there was no interest in girl education, today 40% are girl students. This means that people are taking interest in the education now. They have seen changes in their children where the children who have been even up to primary stage, they have more civic and disciplined life.
Children have more confidence and can express themselves even better. Never there has been any student who was admitted to a Navodya Vidalaya earlier and now every year at least one student joins there. (Navodya Vidalaya is the government run schools where all expenses are paid by the government for the education, boarding and lodging.)
Its not jus one Mr. Ved Prakash Dixit who is like this…Many more Mr. Ved Prakash Dixit are out there, who might be even ur neighbor, one among ur friend’s circle and my due respect goes to all of them. As he has said it’s the same kind of importance where I am but still wherever I am I can support him either financially or physically or wht evr the way I can. I hav tht mind to come out rather than being a niggler who tells which it never was and will be.
Its jus the attitude of a person…when I said I am doing my level best, I really mean it…I never thought whether its small or big. Whether I give 10000$ or 1$ to charity…the more important is, I feel satisfied with wht I am doing…Rather than giving out 10000$ without tht proper mind its better to giv even a 1$ whole heartedly…
Remember one man can bring change not jus a change, a smashing change…those who disagree with me kindly go thru the pages of history…Those who lived b4 us hav left lot of real time stories to prove tht…
Now coming to the point whether a blog can bring such an change…I bet mine may never make tht…but again there are already many blogs which are out there, which hav already brought tht change…google urself and find It.
WRT my previous blog and comments, I would like to put in short my view…protest if u r not ok with a thing…but make sure it’s a sensible protest, an organic non destructive and much constructive one which brings out solution rather than making the situation much worse!
First stop thinking will this happen, start believing this will happen. If u want change to happen, it must happen first within ur self…ur attitude matters more…whether in personal life or in an organization try NOT to hav the attitude of projecting urself as “CAN” I person but rather a person with “I CAN” attitude…
I remember one old bed time story…In a war, an admiral came forward to his troop and told “we need one person who has to go on a crucial mission in which the probability of the one coming back alive is 0. I will turn back u discuss among urself and let tht person come forward 1 step.” After telling this he turned to opposite direction and then turned bck again to the soldiers. He saw everyone were in the same position. He felt bad and asked the soldiers “ Is there not one person?”. The soldiers shouted in chorus “NO Sir, We all took one step forward”. Atleast this is the way I wish my mindset to be.
I am damn tired…few things shld happen within ourself…as I told this blog is jus a justification for the questions asked for my post “TOWARDS INSANITY”…
No harm…keep smiling

“Dont walk as if you own the world, Walk as if u dont care who owns the world Thats ATTITUDE ! “
PS : A kind request. Go thru this site for much info if u r intrested in knowing more abt this schol and its operation. www.aarambh.fi Its not tht u hav to do something immd. But hav an open mind and heart to help as and when u can and in whtever the way u can. There are always people who are looking forward for someone’s hand, to bring them up. U may be THE ONE who might bring the change, if u believe u r already the part of the system.
