A Picture, A Post and The Pun!

November 6th 2007 in Jus 4 Fun, Photos and Thoughts...

When days are hectic and you are literally running on your toe non-stop and hardly you have time to think about taking a break and eventually when you are lost in all the official and personal commitments, what do you think which will give you that momentary break before you go head on heels again?. At least for me it’s the HUMOR. I never intended to post this. But again for the easiness and the meltdown in the situation this incident brought to me, I thought of sharing the same. It’s Tuesday evening and I was damn screwed at my work as this project is getting winded up this month end. I just thought of having a glimpse, what’s happening inside Nokia. So opened the Nokia internal homepage and saw this news about Nokia introducing “Upgrades in S60 – touch and more.” Basically in layman terms it’s all about Nokia introducing the touch screen feature similar to what iPhone and other’s have. So what’s the fuss and fun about this?

This is what it’s all about. Since its internal news I hope I don’t breach the NDA (Non-Disclosure-Agreement) I have signed. It’s all about the below picture.

If you ever thought that the tech geeks and nerds have the least sense of humor I hope this change your perception a bit.

This is the modified content what Nokia says about the technology.

“The touch user interface in S60 Smartphone software offers the opportunity to develop devices with a variety of input methods, whether it is a touch screen with a traditional keypad, touch screen with a QWERTY keyboard or touch screen alone. S60 touch UI comes with support for tactile feedback, which means that there is a physical pulse and feedback when the user taps on the screen.

S60 also brings sensor support to the platform as a generic solution enabling support for a range of sensors in S60 devices. These technologies open up a new kinetic world to the user and offer completely new opportunities for application and game developers.”

And this is what theregister.co.uk comment about the same technology. Just in case you wanna hear what others comment about it.

Nokia has announced that S60, the popular interface layer for Symbian smartphones, will from next year allow users to prod screens with their fingertips - though apparently this innovation owes nothing to Apple’s uber-phone.

It’s not just about putting fingers on phones. S60 will be enabling manufacturers to implement interfaces based on fingers, styli, keyboards, keypads, or any happy combination of the above. They are also going to provide haptic feedback, little vibrations to confirm actions, so it’s really nothing like the iPhone or the iPod Touch - reviewed here - at all.”

And the fun begins now in the Nokia’s internal comment section for its post. These comments are real and never intended to disclose anybody personal info or detail nor to critic or counter comment on public space. I am posting the comments just purely for the fun and laughter it brought to me.

Some ABC

About the picture; if you shake the phone many times, the fish will die.”

Some 123

“if u shake it heavily, all the water will be poured out!”

Some ÄÄÄ

“How/Where to get that Fish? :-)”

Reply to ÄÄÄ from ÖÖÖ

“”How/Where to get that Fish? :-)” - using a hook with worm I guess :)”

Back firing from ÄÄÄ to ÖÖÖ for his reply

“”How/Where to get that Fish? :-)” ” - using a hook with worm I guess :)

One question is answered, second still waiting i.e “Where?” :-)

It’s not jus me who flashes proudly my Sony Ericcson 990i, seems someone else is out there with something else.

So funny, l like it. i bought iphone and enjoy my cellphone. How ever, if there is a touch phone of nokia, i wanna touch it first now. ha ha ha ~”

Some ÅÅÅ showing of his nativity

that water is drinkable… its from alhambra….”

Finally some Geek gets annoyed and he says

Is the aquarium really important to the discussion that we need 8 comments on it? It’s just a pic. Come on folks try and keep it relevant to the technology/product.”

But our kinda geek seems NON-STOPPABLE. A Chinese geek ask’s

“How to clean the “Fish tank”? Do I need to disassemble the mobile?? :-)”

A nerd from Saudi reply back to our Chinese geek

“You clean it at the drive thru car wash?”

And the comments kept on going and going. Well that was very serious news and at this time when I was typing already Google has announced officially its Android program for Open Handset Alliance which has sure created a stir in the Mobile industry. But after all its jus the mind’s perception to take things light making the situation ease and still be serious inside about what needs to be done. And what added up the fun is, as I was reading through the comments I was imagining the way the guy would have sounded. Like how the Chinese would have told it and so on. That was sure an unplanned pleasant break which I really enjoyed when I was asked to send a report in 10 minites :-). At the end it’s those simple things and moments which give the life the completeness we search for.

For the rest, I have lots and lots of things to write but more work to be done before that. So I hope to give quality time for the blog once I am back in India.

That’s all folks for now!

Remembering the Forgotten things…

Forgetting things in day to day life is normal, is it not? The below mentioned things that happened in my 4 day (planned) sudden trip to India are testimony to my act of imbecility at times (I swear, it’s only at [...]

How to name this?

I thought, after all I badly need a break. Past 4 weeks have been so hectic both officially as well personally. One of the best decisions I made right on the beginning of that 1st week was to decide anything and everything once I go back to India by this December 1st. Ya might sound [...]
